Firefighters were called to a blaze in the roof of a house in Coulsdon last night.
Crews from Purley and Wallington fire stations were called to Ellis Road at about 1am.
An electrical defect in a light fitting in the top hallway is believed to have caused the fire in the roof.
The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
No-one was injured in the incident.
