Terrified mother finds fox in baby's bedroom in Tooting

A mother got the fright of her life when she found a fox hiding inside her baby's bedroom.

Wanda Farrell,30, came back to her Tooting flat last week to find the intruder had trashed the place, causing £1,000 of damage.

The wooden blinds had been ruined, phone cables chewed through and excrement was deposited on the carpet.

Her eight-month-old daughter Lena's toys were destroyed as well as her breast pump.

Mrs Farrell called the RSPCA who checked the flat over and confirmed the fox was no longer there.

As a further precacution, a neighbour and Mrs Farrell's husband also checked over the family home, and were convinced it was gone.

But when Mrs Farrell began to clean the carpets in her daughter's bedroom she was shocked to find the fox inside a wardrobe.

She swiftly called the RSPCA who said if she even had put her hand in the wardrobe she was sure to have been attacked.

The mum believes the fox managed to get in the flat when her front door was open while she was putting her daughter in the car.

She said: "My daughter was playing on the floor and a fox was hiding in her bedroom wardrobe.

"A neighbour, my husband and the RSPCA checked the fox was gone, my husband checked the flat and was confident it was not there.

"It is frightening to think what could have happened. I would like to raise awareness for people with small babies, you never think something like this is going to happen."

Mrs Farrell is now calling on people living in the area to be aware of foxes, and to be careful if they have got small children who could be attacked as there is a primary school nearby.
