A series of heritage events are taking place in Morden Library this month.

Merton During the Age of Dickens celebrates the bicentenary of the author and invites visitors to see what life was like during the Victorian era.

The event has been organised as part of the City Reads campaign, with Merton Heritage and Local Studies Centre staff on hand to answer questions.

Guests can gain insight into Merton during the Victorian era and have the change to view historic photographs, objects and costume from the period.

The free event showcases the social changes London was experiencing at the time.

People have the chance to learn about a range of topics, from education to housing, transport and the local high street.

Children also have the chance to learn how to make and decorate photo frames in a library workshop.

Merton's heritage service is currently staging an exhibition of photographs by historian and amateur photographer Tom Francis, capturing Mitcham life between 1869 to 1930.

The library is hosting an event for children to learn more about the exhibition, with the opportunity to make their own photo frame for their family photos.
