A special champagne tea will be held for couples who got married in the borough in the year of the Queen’s accession to the throne.
The council is inviting couples celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary to the afternoon at Russettings which houses Sutton’s Register Office on Sunday May 27 from 3pm until 4pm.
Couples entering their seventh decade of marriage are also invited to the tea party to celebrate with scones, sandwiches and champers.
Couples have until April 30 to register for their invite.
Councillor Graham Tope, executive member for community safety, leisure and libraries on Sutton Council, said: "With the Queen’s jubilee and the Olympic Games, Summer 2012 is a once in a lifetime chance for the community to come together.
"We’re planning lots of fun events to help people celebrate with their friends and neighbours, and the champagne tea will be a lovely afternoon for couples about to reach their diamond jubilee."
