Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was arrested at an airport for carrying gun-shaped shoes.

The TV personality was detained at Zurich Airport in Switzerland as she tried to return to London following a visit to her holiday home in Klosters when her designer Chanel sandals - which boast 90mm heels shaped like pistols - ignited a red flag at airport security.

Tara tweeted about the incident: "Was arrested at arZurich airport with my Chanel killer heels in my luggage... not a good look on the x Ray!! (sic)"

However, it appears her brush with the law wasn't too traumatising for the socialite, as she added: "I actually played backgammon with the cops for 7hrs!! (sic)"

Meanwhile, Tara's representative said in a statement to the MailOnline: "She did have the shoes on her and her luggage was double checked because of it, but she wasn't arrested in the way it may look."

It isn't the first the pistol-shaped shoes have gotten Tara into trouble, however, as they were confiscated by Swiss customs officers during a previous visit to the country four years ago. The TV star's lawyers later retrieved the shoes on her behalf after five days.

The black satin sandals, which are worth £1,000, were created by famed fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and caused controversy when they were first worn in 2008 by 'Hung Up' hitmaker, Madonna. They have also been seen on singer-and-actress Ashlee Simpson.
