A Good Samaritan was bottled by two drunken louts after she defended a pensioner from their lewd abuse.

The 29-year-old intervened when she saw the elderly lady being taunted by two intoxicated women on a train from Wimbledon to Chessington South.

According to British Transport Police, the drunk women threatened to assault the woman when she challenged their lewd and offensive behaviour.

They then attacked and struck her on the side of the head with a bottle when she tried to leave the train at Chessington South.

Investigating officer, PC Wayne Wabara, said: “It is appalling that the women attacked the victim simply for being a Good Samaritan and for challenging their loutish behaviour.

“We’ve requested CCTV footage from the train and are making enquiries to try and identify the women responsible. Please get in touch if you know who they are, or have any information that could help us.”

BTP said the women were also abusive to passengers on the carriage when they boarded the train at Wimbledon between 6.15pm and 7pm on Wednesday, March 14.

The attack left the victim in pain, but fortunately uninjured.

Both women are thought to be in their late teens or early twenties.

The first woman is described as being of mixed race, 5’8" tall and of average build with short black hair. She was wearing a black jacket, denim shorts, black leggings and boots.

The second woman is described as being white, 5’6" tall and had very long blonde hair with a fringe. She was wearing brown shorts, black leggings and boots.

Both were carrying bottles of alcohol.
