Community sports facilities in London are receiving a boost of £1m from the Mayor.
Towpath Embankment in Wandsworth is one of 20 different projects to be awarded money from the Mayor's £15.5m Sports Legacy Fund, which with match funding and private sector investment now stands at over £30m.
The Mayor is donating £1,625 from the fund towards the construction of new boat storage in Putney.
The financial boost comes as the Mayor reaffirms his commitment to protecting green spaces and getting more people back into sports.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: "Whether its football or athletics, tennis or rowing, boxing, sailing or cricket we are pushing hard to improve community sports facilities across the board.
"As we head ever closer to the Games in 2012 this latest round of funding has been carefully targets towards projects that will help to inspire even more Londoners to try out something new to help them get fit and active."
