A young man remains in hospital fighting for his life after suffering severe head injuries in a fight.

The victim is in a critical but stabilised condition following the incident on Central Parade, New Addington, on Sunday night.

A 58-year-old man, believed to be the victim's father, was also taken to hospital following the brawl.

He is said to have suffered non-life threatening head injuries and is in a stable condition.

Police were called to the scene at around 8.45pm after receiving reports of a group of males fighting. When they arrived they found the man in his twenties and the 58-year-old both suffering assault injuries.

A spokesman for London Ambulance said: "We were called to Central Parade to reports of an assault. We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews and the air ambulance doctor in a car.

"One man was taken as a priority to Kings College hospital in a serious condition, he was suffering from a head injury. The second man was also taken to Kings College hospital but he was concious and breathing."

* A second teenager has been arrested in connection with a fight in New Addington which has left a man fighting for his life.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Tuesday evening on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and attempted murder.

* Police arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of GBH, but he has since been bailed until early November.

On Saturday, British Transport Police were also called to a fight involving more than 20 youths on a tram at King Henry's Drive stop.

However, a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the two incidents were not thought to be linked.
