If the bar is too far away from your house, a new flat has the answer.

Built on the site of the old Rose and Crown pub, which has been part of Church Street in Croydon since 1752, it has the original bar in the living room.

The pub is a Grade II listed building and so was under strict planning laws as to how it could be modified.

The original plans for the flats proposed to remove the bar but were denied permission. So the designers decided to keep the bar and design the one-bedroom flat around it.

It is now a feature in the living room of the ground floor apartment and sure to be a conversation starter for visitors.

Sadly the bar does not come fully stocked with alcohol and the owner may find a group of locals coming round every Friday and Saturday night.

Diane Armstrong, senior lettings manager of Townends estate agents in Croydon, said: "The apartment offers something unique, which has retained all the character of the existing pub and all the benefits of a new apartment.

"It has been completely refurbished throughout a substantial amount of free space for a one-bedroom apartment."
