The Bingham Hotel’s executive chef, Shay Cooper, has won a Catey award for his work at the restaurant, capping a successful year in which he also earned a Michelin star.

Mr Cooper oversees the riverside restuarant’s 50-covers, room service, afternoon tea and banqueting, and was a clear favourite of judges in the 250 covers and under category.

Last year the Bingham was awarded three AA rosettes and won the Visit London Award for the best gastronomic experience.

Earlier this year it got the Tea Guild Award for Excellence, all adding up to a 45 per cent increase in revenue in the year to June.
