Croydon Athletic continue to wait for their first win with their freshly built team as Hendon knocked four past them at the KT Stadium.

Hendon’s first goal came via Jon Coke’s long range shot in the 15th minute, but Croydon had a few chances in the first half with new loan signing Courtney Harris connecting well in midfield to set up Dan Moody, whose shot was narrowly wide. Croydon had a period towards the end of the half with Danny Elgar’s long range strike just wide of the post, and the pressure finally paid off in the 41st minute for the Rams.

Some good play between Elgar and Kevin Sefaah in midfield caused chaos in the Hendon penalty box and Moody managed to strike through a crowd of players to bring the Rams level. On the stroke of half time however the visitors got ahead after the impressive Adam Peck in the Croydon goal had pulled off a great save for the Rams, only for the ball to fall to Casey McLaren to knock the ball in for Hendon.

Soon after the restart however Hendon were awarded a penalty in the 48th minute and Jamie Busby stepped up to put the away side 2-1 up.

As the half wore on Hendon began to take control and a good ball through fell to Danny Wishart in the 58th minute and he made no mistake in putting his team further ahead.

A great chance fell to Croydon in the 71st minute when some great play between Elgar and Danny Dudley saw Dudley’s inch perfect cross into the box fall to Reggie Savage, but unfortunately his attempt went well over the bar.

A rather flattering scoreline for Hendon and Croydon will think themselves unlucky not to get anything out of this match.
