Former Staines Town striker Gavin Tomlin clinched a one-year contract with Brentford by scoring their winner on debut in a 1-0 friendly victory over Hampton & Richmond on Saturday.
Tomlin, 22, who signed for Staines in December 2003 from Aylesbury United and was the Swans' top scorer in 2004-05, has also had spells with Gillingham, Ashford Town (Kent) and Tooting & Mitcham.
Staines boss Steve Cordery said: "Gavin was with me at Aylesbury United before I brought him to Staines.
"But he left to play for St Albans City, then joined Windsor & Eton last season.
"He has a lot of ability and can operate wide right and in midfield, as well as up front."
Brentford boss Leroy Rosenior added: "Gavin is enthusiastic, quick and versatile with a lot of potential.
He will give us another option in attack and midfield."
Rosenior revealed he is also interested in Northern Ireland international striker James Quinn, whom Peterborough have made available on a free transfer, and is negotiating with former QPR midfielder George Santos, as well as a centre-half.
But triallist Michael Standing, a former Aston Villa midfielder, is not being offered a deal, and ex-Bristol City keeper Nathan Abbey is joining another club.
Brentford, who also included former American college player Chris Robb against the Beavers, scored eight minutes before half-time when Tomlin slotted in Kevin O'Connor's pass.
Brentford: Nelson, O'Connor, Osborn, Charles, Frampton, Brooker, Pinault, Skulason, Santos, Tomlin, Tillen. Subs (all used in second half): Mousinho, Griffiths, Standing, Rhodes, Moore, Kuffour, Willock, Ide, Robb, Masters.
The Bees won 1-0 at Basingstoke on Tuesday, courtesy of a 55th-minute O'Connor penalty.
Triallist Danny Kedwell from Welling United missed a good chance before being replaced by the lively Tomlin for the second-half.
Sam Sodje's cousin Omone, a former Charlton junior, was brought on in attack for the last six minutes.
Brentford: Nelson (Masters), O'Connor, Frampton, Pinault, Santos (O Sodje), Charles, Brooker (Ide), Skulason (Griffths), Kedwell (Tomlin), Kuffour, Tillen (Osborne).
This Saturday the Bees visit Crawley, and are away again to Harrow Borough on Monday.
