The National Trust property at Morden Hall Park is an unexpected haven of meadows, wetlands and the River Wandle and is full of history waiting to be discovered. Free entry and open all year Morden Hall Park is available to all the community; with a large car park, a Riverside Café and a National Trust shop situated on the banks of the Wandle it is used as a local hub for families, groups and individuals.

Originally the home of the Hatfeild family the estate was left to the National Trust with instructions that it remains free for public enjoyment. Covering 125 acres it is a prime location to be explored and offers peace and tranquillity within the city.

There are a wide variety of events within the year which are very popular and catered for all of the community. This year sees the return of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men to perform the Shakespearean classic The Tempest on 19 August. The Cambridge Theatre, are a new attraction for the summer, are to perform the family favourite Robin Hood (30 July) in the Rose Garden. The National Trust run weekly school holiday workshops on Thursday lunch times where the whole family can learn about aspects of the park through fun crafts and activities. These are run from 11am to 3pm and include themes based upon nature and wildlife.

The National Trust works towards the protection and conservation of important national sites so that they can continue to be explored and enjoyed by families and individuals. Morden Hall Park is taking a pro-active stand in conservation.

Green is a theme echoed through various events hosted at Morden Hall Park. This September sees the return of the popular Green Day Out. Local schools and businesses are invited to display how they are pursuing a ‘greener’ lifestyle. This event includes performances by local schools and musicians.

Green events occur throughout the year with the aim to improve knowledge on green issues along with details of the park. These are in the form of guided walks, exhibitions and workshops.

The National Trust is running the Food Glorious Food campaign to inform, involve and inspire supporters to eat local and seasonal food. To raise awareness of green food Morden Hall Park are hosting several themed events that are dependent on season. In the summer months explore local fruit and vegetable presentations and menus. In the autumn celebrate vegetarian and sausage week and why not have some spiced punch, mince pies or a Christmas lunch at the Riverside Café during December.

Morden Hall Park is an open space for all the community to enjoy with opportunities to explore the wild aspects of the environment through visiting the meadows; the unspoilt natural wetlands and strolling along the banks of the River Wandle. With lots to offer both outside and indoors Morden Hall Park is a location that should be enjoyed and visited by all.
