Croydon's South Area welterweight champion Chas "Bomber" Symonds is predicting a clinical finish to his rematch with the man he deposed, Brett James.
In his 10th professional fight in June, the 21-year-old, from Stroud Green Way, claimed his first title by stopping champion James in four thrilling rounds at a packed York Hall.
Before the referee stopped the contest because of cuts above both James' eyes, Symons was dropped for the first time in his professional career, in round two. But he got off the canvas to unleash a fearsome barrage to force the stoppage.
Now they will go head-to-head again in Symonds' first defence of his title on Friday September 24.
Symonds told the Guardian: "They wanted a rematch after the first fight, and I have no problem with doing it again for my first defence. It was an exciting fight for the fans, but I think this one will be more straight forward.
"I am learning fast and I will be looking to do a job on him. I know what to expect this time and I don't think it will last four rounds."
Symonds is back in training with Kevin Sanders in Peterborough, and will be looking for a British title shot within a year if, as expected, he gets past James.
