Crystal Palace FC supporters are being asked to help save the club from financial meltdown by sponsoring their match against Preston on Easter Monday.

Fans can pay £25 to have their name included on a special poster in the matchday programme, and on a scroll of honour on the giant screen within their Selhurst Park stadium.

Anyone handing over cash will also have the chance to win the shirts worn by the players during the game, which will carry the supporters trust logo instead of regular sponsor GAC Logistics.

The club’s chief executive, Phil Alexander, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response of Palace supporters since the news of administration with their offers of help.

“This project enables supporters old and new , young and old, to help in a very tangible way.

“Every person that contributes will be given a special mention on the poster we will produce in the programme for the Preston game and they will get a chance to win some great prizes in the draw.

“I would like to thank The CPFC Supporters Trust for their involvement and support and can assure all supporters of the club that the revenue generated by this initiative will actually be making a difference and will be a big help.”

The supporters trust has already raised £6,000 for the fund, and hopes to top £50,000 over all.

Brendan Guilfoyle, Crystal Palace FC’s administrator, said: “It is vital to fund the club whilst I seek a new purchaser. I have been hugely impressed by the passion of Palace fans and I know this wonderful initiative will be a huge success.

“I would especially like to thank the CPFC supporters trust for their ongoing support.”

Anyone interested in sponsoring the team can pick up an application form at the club box office, or by calling 08712 000071.
