Steve Cordery avoided the curse of the manager-of-the-month award as Staines Town moved up to sixth in Blue Square South with a 3-1 win over Weymouth.
Staines had a couple of early scares before taking an 11th-minute lead.
Howard Newton made a strong run down the right, Tamer Tuna dummied and Leroy Griffiths arrived at the back post to smash the ball in off the woodwork.
Staines doubled their lead after 20 minutes. A sublime move, started by Griffiths, involved Scarlett, Marc Charles-Smith and Tuna down the middle before Newton rounded it off with a powerful shot into the bottom corner.
Bennett had to make a saving tackle to deny Tuna, Welch made a good save from the head of Charles-Smith and Tuna had a goal chalked off for a foul on Bennett as Staines continued to dominate.
At the other end, Farrell was gifted a good chance, but Louis Wells made a good fingertip save.
Tuna sidefooted a great opportunity wide following a powerful run and cross from Griffiths, while Charles-Smith again went close with a header.
Staines also started the second half on top with Welch doing well to save Newton’s shot and Charles-Smith’s follow-up, while Tuna saw another chance blocked on the line.
But the tide started to turn following a 48th minute yellow card for Gordon, who joined Griffiths and Newton in the book.
A quickly-taken free kick saw Staines fail to cut out Smith’s cross and Pierre Joseph-Dubois’s powerfully stooping header made it 2-1.
McGuinness forced a decent save from Wells, and chances for Groves and Joseph-Dubois went begging.
But, in the 74th minute, a double substitution by manager Cordery proved inspired as Ali Chaaban, with his first touch, drilled the ball into Welch’s bottom nearside corner.
In the final minute, Wells bravely saved a Reid shot with his legs, before Joseph-Dubois blazed the rebound over the bar. Staines advance to 6th place in the table.
