Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has confirmed Southampton have made a bid for midfielder Neil Danns.
Speaking after his side’s 2-0 victory over Peterborough the Eagle’s chief spoke of the League One sides interest but urged his player to stay with the Selhurst outfit.
“I have been told Southampton have made an offer," he said.
“In all fairness and no disrespect to Southampton they have already taken Jose Fonte and in my opinion it would be a backwards step really unless you want a few quid.
“However I don’t think Neil Danns is like that and I think his career is more important to him.”
Warnock also admitted there had been a number of offers for some of his others players but pleaded with the administrators to show some caution despite the financial plight of the club.
He added: “I am aware of a couple of derisory offers for players but I don’t think the administrators can get a gun behind the players’ heads.
“We have to be careful because whoever buys the club, and there is a number of interested parties, they are not going to want the club decimated for the sake of a few pieces of silver.”
