Police are warning owners of high-powered motorbikes to be vigilant following the theft of six vehicles from addresses across Sutton.

Three Suzukis, two Hondas and a Triumph bike have all been taken during the hours of darkness from residential areas in Sutton, Carshalton and Wallington over the last 16 days.

The bikes were up to 1000cc in size and would have required at least three or four men to lift them onto an open top truck or Transit type van.

The most recent theft was of a black, Triumph bike from the grounds of a block of flats in West Street, Carshalton, overnight between 7.45pm on November 25 and 6.55am November 26.

PC Pat Simcox, of Sutton’s Crime Prevention Team, said: “Motorbikes and scooters are an easy target for thieves if they are not secured because they can be wheeled away or bundled into a van in seconds.

“It’s important to keep your machine safe by taking steps to protect it and by choosing the right security devices. For example, ground anchors are good for securing your machine at home.”
