Mayor of Elmbridge Councillor James Vickers officially opened a new taxi rank at Hersham station this week.
He also took time to talk to some of the borough’s taxi drivers as well as commuters using the station in Molesey Road.
One taxi driver, Ejaz Ahmed, welcomed the new taxi rank.
He said: “It’s a good idea because until now there has been no service for residents getting off trains in Hersham. There is also a shortage of spaces on taxi ranks in Elmbridge at busy times so this will spread the service and make more room for taxi drivers.”
Further information about taxi services in the borough can be found at elmbridge.gov.uk/taxis.
