Wandle Wanderers have been given a helping hand by their local McDonald’s restaurant.
The Putney-based U12s will benefit from new kit and coaching equipment that will help the players during training sessions and improve their skills on the pitch.
David Fergusson, business manager for the Putney McDonald’s, has stepped in to support the club as part of the McDonald’s community football programme that aims to help more people get involved in the game either as players, supporters or coaches.
As The FA’s community partner, McDonald’s has already assigned more than 13,000 volunteer community coaches across the UK to increase access to free qualified coaching for youngsters.
However, the right coaching equipment and kit is also vital and McDonald’s has donated more than 200,000 footballs and 13,000 kitbags to the new coaches over the past six years.
Fergussonsaid: “I’m proud to support community grassroots football clubs who do a fantastic job in keeping the local youngsters active.
“My Putney restaurant has been twinned with Wandle Wanderers and I hope that by supporting the club through the donation of kit and equipment we can help them to grow and encourage more children to get involved in the national game.”
