Two waiters charged with murdering two Tooting sisters appeared at the Old Bailey today.

Maleha Masud, 15, and Nabiha Masud, 21, died after a fire at their home in Lessingham Avenue on 21 June.

Both suffered smoke inhalation and burns in the attack.

Rasal Khan, 18, from Leicester, and Shihabuddin Choudhury, 20, of Nottingham, appeared via videolink.

A 14-year-old boy, who has also been charged with murder, remains in custody.

All three are also accused of the attempted murder of the rest of the family.

The girls' mother, Rubina Masud, 53, and two brothers, Zain Masud, 22, and Junaid Masud, 17, survived the incident.

Maleha died four days after the fire while her older sister died more than a month later.

The men were remanded in custody, will face trial on November 23.

The teenager next appears in court on September 17.
