A local children’s hospice which supports families in Croydon and surrounding areas, is calling on local people to dust off their comfy walking shoes, head off to London and take part in a walk across nine London Bridges on Sunday September 27.

This will be the fourth London Bridges Walk organised by CHASE hospice care for children and this year the charity aims to raise £22,000 to help support families with children not expected to reach their 19th birthday across South West London, Surrey and Sussex.

Last year several families from the Croydon area travelled up to town for the walk – it’s an easy train ride on a Sunday morning and a great family day out. The walk starts at the Tower of London – there will be an “I Spy” quiz along the way – and finishes at the Imperial War Museum where those taking part will be able to enjoy a “street party”. There will be raffle as well and an opportunity to do some more exploring at the latest Imperial War Museum attractions.

CHASE events manager Michelle Nippress said: “This is a great day out, where adults and children of all ages can stroll along the Thames at their own pace, while raising money for CHASE at the same time. As well as the entry fee, extra money can be raised with sponsorship which goes towards supporting families with children who have life shortening illnesses through South West London, Surrey and Sussex.

CHASE has to raise £4 million a year so we are asking people to sign up today and help raise funds to support these families.”

Entry is £12 for adults and £5 for under 16’s or a bargain £25 for a family ticket – two adults and two under 16’s. To enter the walk please visit www.chasecare.org.uk/londonbridges to print out a form, call 01483 447752 or email events@chasecare.org.uk
