A sandwich fan who used to chomp through an entire loaf every day has lost almost eight stone after ditching the dough.

Bob Reynolds, 49, from Chessington, was warned he was morbidly obese and was fitted with a pace maker after having a heart attack at the age of 30.

Determined to stay healthy for his grown-up children, he has in seven months since dropped from 21-and-a-half stone to 14 stone.

Mr Reynolds, a project manager based in Chelsea, now cycles part of his journey to work from his home in Bolton Road.

He swapped rounds of bacon sandwiches and cheese on toast for milkshakes and soups, but insists that he is never hungry.

The former Beverley Boys’ School pupil, who used to play for Kingstonian as a youth, said his wife has been very complimentary of his new slimline image.

He is now egging on other men at his Lighter Life diet class in Ewell and has switched to three healthy meals a day.

He said: “I don’t miss bread. I have a few pieces here and there. I used to have bread and butter with every meal, a typical working class background where you pad yourself out, but I don’t do that anymore. It’s been a total re-education of eating.”
