Two drug dealers were arrested earlier this month thanks to the help of a police dog called Megan.
The trusty hound and her handler PC Wilson were called in to search the Keevil Drive area of Southfields after police saw two young men acting suspiciously near a ground floor flat on March 2.
The pair made a run for it, throwing the drugs they were carrying on the floor as they went. One was caught and arrested by PC Ben Cheal from the West Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), while the other, who thought he had got away, was stopped by response team officers.
Megan quickly sniffed out the drugs and recovered a large quantity of what is believed to be crack cocaine, and the suspects was charged with possession and intent to supply class A drugs.
West Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team Sergeant Nigel Mussett said: “I have no doubt the drugs would not have been recovered were it not for the tracking skills of Police Dog Megan and her handler PC Wilson.”
