Woolworths' longest trading branch, in Croydon is to close on Tuesday after 96 years of trading.
The store opened three years after the US parent company launched the first FW Woolworths in Liverpool in 1909, selling everything for sixpence, 2.5p.
The North End shop lasted a depression, two world wars and numerous recessions but will close, along with many others.
