Police are searching Old Deer Park for a Spanish teacher missing for more than a fortnight from his north Sheen flat.

Javier Rey, 50, has been missing since November 5 when he left his West Sheen Vale about 930am.

Police are concentrating their search on Old Deer Park because that is the last place his mobile phone was used.

Mr Rey moved to the UK in September to work for one year as a teacher, traveling to schools throughout London.

Police say he left his flat on November 4 to travel to Bromley.

“We know he arrived at the Bishop Justus School in Magpie Hall Lane that day but no-one has heard from him since he left there at 8.30pm,” a Met Police spokeswoman said.

“We know he arrived home at about 9.40pm on the evening of November 4 and believe he left his flat again at about 9.30 the following morning, heading towards Richmond Circus.

“A CCTV image of him at 9.36am is currently the last sighting we have.

“Since then there has been no sign of him, and we are currently concentrating our search efforts in the Old Deer Park, Richmond, as we believe this is where his mobile phone was last used.”

Mr Rey is described as 5ft 5in tall of slim build with short dark hair. He usually wears spectacles.

When last seen he was wearing a grey jacket and dark trousers.

The investigation is being led by Major Investigation Team 7 at Putney.

At this stage officers believe there are no reasons to suppose Mr Rey was particularly upset about anything that day.

“We are naturally anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen Javier since November 4,” the spokeswoman said.

“If he has, for some reason, disappeared of his own accord and doesn't want his employers or family to know we will naturally respect that wish, but we do need to know that he is safe and well.”

Anyone who thinks they may have seen Mr Rey, or has any information, should call police on 020 8785 8244 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
