Three people have been injured in a shooting incident in Clapham.

At around 4.55pm on Friday, March 1, police were involved in a chase with a moped that had failed to stop in the Clapham area.

A shotgun was fired from the moped towards Clapham Common South Side before the suspects fled the scene.

Two people suffered shotgun pellet injuries whilst a third person was injured by the moped.

London Ambulance Service paramedics took the injured people to hospital.

Police are awaiting formal assessments but at this stage it is not believed anyone is in a life-threatening condition.

A crime scene is now in place and police claim enquiries to trace the moped are ongoing with firearm officers searching.

There have been no arrests at this stage.

Anyone who saw the moped, or captured the incident on dash cam, should call 101 ref CAD 5008/1 Mar.

A local barber said he was left “shocked” after hearing shooting close to his shop near Clapham Common.

The man, who gave his name as Kaka, 34, who works in Chop Barbers, told PA: “I was in the shop just before 5 and I heard a gunshot up the road.

“We were all shocked because it was so close, the police were everywhere afterwards.”

Several roads in the area have been cordoned off.

A moped could be seen left on the pavement on Clapham Common South Side.

Forensics were working in and around The Belle Vue pub.

In a statement, London Ambulance Service added: “We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, operational managers, advanced paramedics and London’s air ambulance.

“We treated three people at the scene and took two to a London major trauma centre and one to hospital.”
