Police have named the victim of a suspected murder after he died in Epsom on February 7.

Officers and paramedics were called to a flat on Eleanor Avenue in Epsom just after 9pm after reports of concerns for a man’s safety.

They found Jason Lucas unresponsive at the flat and the 47-year-old died at the scene.

Jason’s family are being supported by specialist officers and have released an image of him to the public.

Darren Hanson, 44, of Eleanor Avenue in Epsom, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 13th February.

The incident has been reported to the Coroner.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Craig Emmerson said: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to Jason’s family during this extremely sad time.

“We will continue our enquiries to establish the full facts and I ask anyone who knows anything or has any information that may be relevant to come forward.”

A spokesperson for Epsom Police said: “The family of Jason Lucas, 47, have today released a photo of him after he died on Wednesday 7 February.

“Officers were called to a flat on Eleanor Avenue in Epsom just after 9pm on 7th February.

Jason Lucas 47, was located unresponsive at the address and could not be revived despite the best efforts of attending paramedics. Jason’s family are being supported by specialist officers.

“Darren Hanson, 44, of Eleanor Avenue in Epsom, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody.

“He is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 13th February.

“Jason’s death has now been referred to the Coroner.
