Thameslink and Southern services in south London are being disrupted as Storm Henk continues to batter the UK.

Today’s strong winds brought on by Storm Henk have caused disruption to multiple lines, impacting a number of Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express services.

Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for wind until 9pm.

In a statement, National Rail advised that most of the routes would be disrupted, with trains potentially cancelled or delayed for up to 90 minutes.

Disruption is expected to last until the end of the day.

Customers are being advised not to travel on Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services due to a number of weather-related incidents affecting travel networks.

These are the affected south London lines:

Caterham to Purley

The line is closed as a result of a tree on the line at Kenley.

No trains are running between Purley and Caterham, which are having additional impacts on the split between Purley and Tattenham Corner

Sutton

Currently the line in the Sutton area is closed due to a train hitting a tree, with trains unable to run between Sutton and Wimbledon and London.

Southern has confirmed that there were no reported injures.

Ewell East

The route in and out of Ewell East is closed as a result of a tree on the line.

National Rail has advised that this will affect Southern trains to and from London via Dorking.

London Bridge

National Rail has advised that Southern services running between London Bridge and East Croydon may not run, as a result of winds impacting nearby scaffolding in the area.
