A woman in her 20s was assaulted and threatened with a knife in an attempted robbery in Tooting.

The victim was approached by a man in Franciscan Road at around 6pm on December 14.

She saw that the man had a knife and attempted to rob her.

He threatened the woman and assaulted her before running from the scene.

Police have said that the victim was not seriously injured in the attack, and nothing was taken from her.

No arrests have been made at this stage and the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 18:10hrs on Thursday, 14 December to reports of an attempted robbery and assault in Franciscan Road, SW17.

“A woman, aged in her 20s, was walking when she was approached by a man in possession of a knife who attempted to rob her.

“The man threatened the woman and assaulted her before running off.

“The woman was not seriously injured and nothing was taken during the incident.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances continue.
