A man has been arrested after an Uber driver was stabbed twice in the chest and two women were followed in Wandsworth.

On November 17, a woman was walking on Sisters Avenue, SW11 at around 4am and noticed a man pursuing her who had a knife.

She started to shout as he came closer, causing him to flee.

A second incident happened on Sumburgh Road, SW12 around 1.40am on November 19.

The same man reportedly grabbed a woman, who broke free.

Further links have been made to a domestic incident on November 23, when an Uber driver was assaulted on Nightingale Lane, Clapham.

The driver was stabbed twice in the chest but the driver’s injuries have since been confirmed as not life-threatening or life-changing, and the driver was subsequently released from the hospital.

Later that same day, officers spotted the man near Clapham Common's Holy Trinity Church at 2.50am.

His suspicious behaviour around women lead to a chase, however, he escaped towards Clapham Common West Side.

At 4.45am, the chase resumed as officers recognised the man, this time on a red bicycle but lost him once more on St.John's Road at Aliwal Road junction.

A member of the public called police after seeing an appeal for information.

Shortly before 4.20pm on Friday, 24 November, a 22-year-old man was arrested in Brixton on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and public order offences.

He is currently in police custody.

Officers also arrested a 35-year-old man at the same location on suspicion of burglary in relation to an unrelated ongoing investigation.

Detective Superintendent Dan O’Sullivan, from the South West Command Unit, said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the public for their assistance that led to this arrest.

“I know that many people will have been incredibly concerned about the details of these linked investigations. I want to reassure local residents that we are continuing to carry out extra reassurance patrols.

“I also want to be clear that our enquiries and our vigilance doesn’t end with this arrest. A team of dedicated detectives are continuing to carry out a thorough investigation. This man is currently in police custody and will be questioned by detectives.
