An 18-year-old has been arrested after a crime spree on Epsom High Street, including assault, criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.

Police were alerted to the incident, where a woman was reportedly pushed into the window of Specsavers during the evening of November 9.

A man also allegedly went on to commit other crimes such as criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for nine offences in total.

The incident was unprovoked and the victim, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, appeared to be unharmed.

Police would like to get in touch with her to record her version of the event and check on her well-being.

The victim is believed to have left the area afterwards, heading towards East Street.

Police are also appealing to potential witnesses of the incident or those related to it.

The suspect, an 18-year-old white man with light brown hair dressed in all-black attire with a man bag, reportedly committed the multiple offences on Epsom High Street.

A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell Police beat said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a common assault on Epsom High Street on Thursday evening (9 November).

“Police were made aware of an allegation of assault, where a man pushed a woman into the shop window of Specsavers, and then went on to commit a series of other offences, including criminal damage and assaulting a police officer.

“An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene for a total of nine offences.

“This attack was completely unprovoked and, while we don’t believe the woman was physically injured, we would like to speak to her to check on her welfare and take an account of this incident.

“If you are the woman involved or know who she is, please get in touch. We do not have a description for her, but we understand that she did not know the man who assaulted her. She is believed to have left on foot in the direction of East Street.

“We would also like to speak to anyone else who might have witnessed this incident or any others. The man involved went on to commit a series of other offences on Epsom High Street, so if you witnessed this incident or any others involving an 18-year-old White man with light brown hair, wearing all-black clothing with a ‘man bag’, please DM us quoting PR/45230127730.”
