Two shows inspired by a hit TV series are coming to London.

Fans of 80s music, science fiction and pop culture references can relive the enjoyable suspense of hit Netflix series Stranger Things when Stranger Things: The First Shadow and Stranger Sings! open in London shortly.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow takes audience back to a time before the Upside Down – to Hawkins in Indiana in 1959, when the town was just an ordinary town with ordinary worries.

It is the prequal to the Duffer brother’s series so while there won’t be the adorable gang of tweenaged heroes, there will be a young Jim Hopper and Bob Newby.

Their lives will change course when news student Henry Creel arrives in town.

The show is written by Kate Trefry, the Duffer brothers and Jack Thorne who penned the stage play of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The First Shadow runs at the Phoenix Theatre on Charing Cross Road from November 17 to August 15, 2024. Tickets start from £20 and are available via atgtickets.com

The second show, Stranger Sings!, returns to Southwark Playhouse Borough in time for Christmas, following a sell-out UK tour.

Opening Wednesday, December 13, this sci-fi spoof promises to be a wild, irreverent twist on the blockbuster series.

Just like the TV show, Stranger Sings! is set in the 1980s in the Indiana town and follows a gang of pals plagued by creatures from a hostile alternate dimension thanks to the local human experimentation facility opening a gateway between Hawkins and the Upside Down.

Nominated of three Off West End awards, this stage show was one of The Stage’s Top 50 Shows of 2022. It was first staged in London in 2022 at The Vaults in Waterloo.

Stranger Sings! was written by writer Jonathan Hogue and has had sell-out runs in New York and Melbourne.

It runs at Southwark Playhouse Borough from December 13 to January 7, 2024. Tickets are on sale now and are £32/£26 adult/concession.
