A person is fighting for their life after a crash between a bus and a pedestrian.

Police were called to the A24 Tooting High Street today (Friday, November 3) at 12.15pm to a crash involving a route 131 bus.

London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance also attended and the pedestrian has been taken to hospital.

Their injuries are potentially life-threatening or life-changing.

The A24 Tooting High Street has been closed in both directions as Garrett Lane is reduced to one lane westbound.

11 buses have been placed on diversion.

Police have said that the impact to traffic is serious with congestion on all approaches.

Footpaths are also closed at the scene.

Pedestrians and cyclists should seek alternative routes.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers responded to calls at 12:15hrs on Friday, 3 November of a collision involving a route 131 bus and a pedestrian on A24 Tooting High Street.

“The London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance also attended and the pedestrian involved has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

“The A24 Tooting High Street has been closed in both directions whilst Garratt Lane is reduced to one lane westbound and eleven bus routes have been placed on diversion.

“The impact to traffic is serious with congestion on all approaches and the footpaths are also closed at scene with pedestrians and cyclists having to seek alternative routes.”
