Whilst there are newer parts to London, there is no doubt that the capital is a very historic region.

Millions of people have walked the streets of London throughout time and visited areas which have since become top tourist attractions.

Including Covent Garden, what started as a humble market is now home to designer shops, fancy restaurants and a number one spot for exploring tourists.

However, whilst Covent Garden is well known for being a busy but nice area of London, not all tourists agree.

Many have taken to the review site Tripadvisor to share their opinions, from disgrace over the pay for toilets, street acts and one even reporting a ghost sighting.

The best 1-star reviews for Covent Garden

Starting off with the great debate about £1 toilets at Covent Garden, many tourists were displeased that you had to pay and the lack of loos.

As one Tripadvisor wrote: "We visited here as part of a short trip to London and discovered you have to pay £1 to pee and yes even young children have to pay!"

The reviewer went on to share their experience of the loos, sharing: " And they're not even nice toilets - small, cramped, no windows, dark and dingy!"

Others suggest that Covent Garden is not as it once was, as a visitor said: "When i lived in London in the 80s this was a must-go to venue for quality street theatre and entertainment."

Adding that they were 'overblown' by its change: "Now it is an overblown and pricey tourist trap selling tut no-one really needs at the most extreme prices."

Another traveller shared how Covent Garden was once a 'vibrant place', saying: "This used to be a vibrant place with interesting shops and unusual street artists. The atmosphere has changed to a crowded, tacky and touristy spot."

Unlike other Covent Garden visitors, one last Tripadvisor user visited the review site to share how they saw a ghost on their visit.

Sharing: "I got off at Covent Garden station after seeing a show at the nearby Adelphi theatre and my hotel was in the area.

"The station was quite busy so I took the staircase, I'm not the fittest of people so it took a while.

"When I got to the top of the stairs I saw a figure of a man looking at me, when I walked towards him he just disappeared.

"He was wearing a tall top hat and clothing that looked like it was from the Victorian era. At that moment I just had to get out.

"A member of staff asked me if I was okay because I looked really pale, I just told him that I was fine. I will never go back to that station."

A spooky story indeed.
