BEFORE its screening at The Broadway Theatre in Catford last week, A Fitting Tribute amused audiences with its sweet yet morose humour at the Edinburgh, Palm Springs and Warsaw film festivals.

Having been screened internationally, it could be eligible for short film BAFTA and Academy award nominations. Watch this space, as they say.

The short is directed by Lewisham's Daniel Cormack and produced by the brains behind Up The Creek Greenwich's Sunday Special, Will Briggs, from New Cross, under the Actaeon Films banner.

Roping in current trends for quirkiness and geeky characters in awkward situations, the beautifully shot A Fitting Tribute follows two very different journalists.

One is the hard nose, feelings-free stereotype and the other a nervous newcomer who must secure a story from a death knock (newsroom speak for when reporters call at the homes of the bereaved).
