A 12-year-old from Carshalton played 'What a wonderful world' with his trumpet as part of the clap for the NHS last night.

Poorwa Gunarathna, of Stanley Square, Carshalton Beeches, has been paying tribute to the NHS with his musical instruments each week.

The warm-hearted boy decided to put on mini-concerts to encourage his road to take part in the national applause each Thursday at 8 pm.

Last week, Poorwa played the violin and decided to make his efforts a little louder by playing the trumpet last night.

Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Poorwa Gunarathna, said: "This is the least I can do to say thank you for the enormous service the NHS and other key workers are doing at this time.

"I enjoy music and regularly play the violin and the trumpet.

"So I thought, why not share the same joy in celebration of these heroes?

" It is important to be positive during this difficult time.

"Subtle things in life such as nature and music will help lift peoples spirits.

"I hope this will be over soon so we can get back to our normal lives."

You can expect to see Poorwa play next Thursday at 8 pm.
