Croydon Schools U11 reached the second round of the London Schools' Crisp Shield with a closely-conteted 3-2 win over Sutton Schools at Shelton Sports, Warlingham, on Saturday, writes David Lomas.
Croydon took an early lead when Ben Kamara laid on a pass for Donald Owusu to score from close range.
Sutton equalised when a free kick struck Dominic Shaw on its way into the net.
Owusu restored Croydon's lead just before half-time, but Sutton took advantage of slack defending to make it 2-2 in the second half.
Kamara got the winner midway through the second half and it took some fine saves by the Sutton keeper to prevent Croydon from widening the margin.
Croydon will be at home to Harlow & West Essex in the quarter-final.
