A fire at the level crossing of Strawberry Hill station is causing rush hour chaos.
The disruption is meant to continue until at least midday today and trains from this station may be cancelled at short notice.
A South Western Rail spokesman said: "The problem was a small smouldering fire. Whilst this incident was being resolved by the London Fire Brigade and Network Rail, all trains had to stop running in the Strawberry Hill area."
The fire has now been put out but services through this station will be severely delayed.
Passengers are advised to find alternate routes if they are travelling towards London or Richmond this morning.
