A 17-year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH after footage emerged of a knife attack on a car in Croydon last week.
After a video was posted online of a hooded figure trying to smash a car window with a "zombie knife" on London Road, Met Police issued an appeal for witnesses.
Scotland Yard has now announced an arrest has been made after detaining a teenager this afternoon (Monday).
The teen was arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH with intent, affray, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon. He is still in police custody.
Police were called to the incident at about 5pm on Wednesday, to reports of a man smashing a car window.
Investigating officers believe the driver of the car was approached by a man with a large knife who smashed his window.
The victim, a 19-year old man, then crashed into another car in an attempt to escape. Police believe he fled his car on foot and was followed by the suspect.
No injuries were reported, and the victim returned to his car after the suspect left the scene.
After the shocking footage of the attack emerged, Croydon North MP Steve Reed wrote to new Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, demanding a "full review" into the lack of resources given to police to deal with this type of crime.
