Battersea Power Station have launched a new app, which celebrates the history and heritage of the Grade II listed building and the surrounding area.

The ‘Heritage Trail’ app takes users on a visual and audio guide through the past, present and future of the iconic building. The app also guides users around Circus West Village, which is the first part of the regeneration to finish.

The power station worked with Calvium, a leading digital agency, to create an app which brings to life the history of the area.

Along with the app, the power station is hosting a series of events in partnership with the London Festival of Architecture this June.

Rob Samuel, Chief Development Officer of Battersea Power Station, said: “The Heritage Trail app is a great new way for people to explore this iconic area and brings the concept of placemaking into the digital age.

“We are delighted to be taking part in this year’s festival of events which, coupled with the new restaurants, cafes and bars promise to make Battersea Power Station a fantastic place for people to explore.”

Jo Reid, Managing Director, Calvium, said: “Digital place making offers people new and immersive ways to discover the world around them. The Battersea Power Station Heritage Trail app is a great example of how the combination of beautiful storytelling and creative technologies can celebrate the heritage and foster a richer sense of place."

The app will officially be launched on 7th June at The Village Hall during a special event exploring how technology is changing the way people explore places. However, it is available to download for free on the app stores on iOS and Android.

People visiting the power station are encouraged to download the app before they arrive to maximise the experience.

Battersea Power Station is one of London’s largest, most visionary and eagerly anticipated new town centres in which roughly half the development will comprise of shops, restaurants and office space. In addition, there will be a six-acre public park, a town square and a new tube station, which will be on the Northern Line and in zone 1.
