A Teddington primary school has been selected to appear in CBBC's Top Class.

Eliza Williams, in Year 6 at Stanley Primary School, came up with the idea of entering.

The popular children's quiz show is hosted by Susan Calman and sees schools compete to be crowned the UK's smartest.

Eliza said: "I'm exhilarated and exceptionally excited; I'm extremely eager for the experience to begin.

"However, bubbling under the surface are, of course, the nerves which are causing several butterflies to flutter in my stomach."

The competing pupils had to pass a rigourous selection process with the production team, which included interviews and general knowledge quizzes.

Filming took place in Glasgow the weekend of May 21; the show will be screened later this year.

The eager pupils were revising and training for both the quiz and their SATS.

The team consists of: Eliza Williams, Mia Tully, Declan Goh, Flynn Hinchcliffe, Arthur Muscroft, Ms Luing Turnbull, and Mr Watson.
