A Croydon theatre company is backing their ability to entertain with a quirky offer to audience members.

Zoo Co opened its two- month long 'Theatre on the High Street' performance late last week and is asking the audience to pay what they feel.

The company's artistic director, Florence O’Mahony looks forward to "put theatre in people’s way" by performing at the Whitgft Centre.

“We’re excited to debut our 'Theatre on the High Street' in Croydon," she said.

"We’re offering a wide and accessible programme of ‘pay what you feel’ performances and everyone’s invited.

"There’s something for families to enjoy, an elders programme and we’ll be handing over the theatre space for local colleges to take over.”

Zoo Co’s play ‘Sirens’ features three ancient Grecian sirens exiled from the shores of Greece, only to find themselves washed up on Hastings beach thousands of years later in 2018.

As well as learning their roles, all the cast members were trained in British sign language for the play to include and support fellow actor Jamal Ajala who is deaf.

The company's creative producer, Rosalind Hoy, said they wanted the best actors possible.

“We wanted the most talented actors for this play and are delighted to welcome Jamal for our Sirens premiere," she said.

"The play will combine both English and British sign language and will be captioned for deaf and hearing audiences so we hope everyone who comes to watch will be able enjoy the performance.”

The show will run until July 26.
