Sadiq Khan was spotted out and about in Thornton Heath on Wednesday, but he wasn't alone.
The mayor of London was accompanied by Borough Commander, Jeff Boothe and officers from Croydon Police as they conducted a weapon's sweep around town.
This visit came just a day after a City Hall summit on how to tackle violent crime was held by Mr Khan.
The mayor said tackling crime was a priority for him.
“Keeping Londoners safe is my top priority - and together with the Met we will continue our relentless focus to tackle violent crime across our city," he said.
"Today (April 11) I joined officers in Croydon to take part in one of our regular weapons sweeps.”
