The council has been urged to ramp up pressure on private land owners in Whitton where flytips have been left without action.

Pictures of the service road behind the west side of Whitton High Street show it is full of discarded items- mattresses, plastic bottles, cupboards.

Councillor Liz Jaeger said: “It's the worst I've seen it in some time, especially the rear of 82-94.

“I have asked the council to contact the landlords to clear up the mess.”

A council spokesman said: “The council is aware of the situation regarding this piece of land and has written to a number of landowners to establish a dialogue to get the waste cleared.

“There is a formal process which needs to be followed and takes time but the council is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
