Six students from across Croydon will see their artwork displayed on the sides recycling trucks.

Hundreds of entries for a litter poster contest were received from schools across Croydon North

The six winning designs will now be printed onto the sides of Croydon Council recycling trucks so that residents across the borough can see the pupil’s designs.

This contest followed a trip by pupils on the school council at Rockmount to parliament last year where they had the chance to put their questions to Mp for Croydon North Steve Reed.

During this visit the pupils outlined their anger and frustration at the neglect shown to parks and streets in the area.

So their teacher Mr Karim decided to get together with Mr Reed to try and combat the problem.

“Young people care passionately about the environment," Mr Reed said.

"They want to remind everyone that dropping litter or dumping rubbish makes our neighbourhoods look dirty and uncared for, as well as costing a lot of money to clear up afterwards.

"It was a really hard job to choose the winners out of so many fantastic designs, but the final six are outstanding and will make a real impact when people see them on the sides of Croydon’s rubbish trucks.

"Our children are telling us to keep our community clean, and I hope everyone will listen to them.”
