A Wandsworth carer has been named a finalist in Specsavers’ annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
Jenny McDowall entered the contest after seeing an advert on social media and was “shocked” when she was voted as a winner in the south east region’s 45-59 age category.
She said: “I follow Specsavers on Facebook so when I saw an ad for Spectacle Wearer of the Year, I thought I would give it a go.
“When I heard I had been named as a regional finalist, I couldn’t believe it – it was a real surprise but exciting at the same time.”
The 46-year-old mother of three was rewarded with a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £150 Specsavers voucher, which were presented to her at Specsavers in Wandsworth by store director Raj Patel.
Jenny now has the chance to book a place in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year final, where one overall winner will get a cash prize of £10,000.
