Police want help catching a sex pest who is dodging the law by using a string of aliases and stolen identities.

The man, who police have still not identified, failed to appear at North Surrey Magistrates' Court to face a sexual offence charge.

He did provide personal details at Staines police station after being arrested and released on bail last September for allegedly touching a woman inappropriately in West Molesey.

After his no-show at the proposed trial on March 12, a warrant for his arrest was issued and a letter sent to the address in Barking, east London, he originally gave to police.

But on March 23 a man living at that address produced the letter to judges at North Surrey Magistrates' Court, claiming he knew nothing about the matter.

Subsequent investigations have confirmed the suspect stole this man's identity, and that he could also be using names such as Nojimu Omola Ja Alagbe, Nojimu Omola Ja Saka, and Steve Smith.

Police this week appealed for help catching him and said he may have been using a number of addresses in Molesey, and believe that he worked as a security guard at the local Tesco store.

Recent reports also suggest that he may be operating in the Kingston area.

Investigating officer DC Louise Passingham said: "The man may go under several aliases. He has clearly lived and has contacts in the Molesey area, where he has also worked.

"In addition for failing to appear at court for the original offence, police need to speak to this man in relation to the offence of perverting the course of justice."

Anyone with information should call DC Passingham on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 11.
