A 27-strong group of Sutton mums who are gearing up for a charity run have already raised more than £2,500 for the cause, two weeks ahead of the event.
Muddy Mummies, a group of mums from all over the borough, have all set up individual fundraising pages ahead of the Cancer Research event on September 18 in Morden Park.
Runners in the 15k fundraiser will have to overcome a muddy obstacle course throughout – while dressed in pink.
Liz Coombes, 45, of Florian Avenue, Carshalton, who set up the collective JustGiving page for the mums, said she is thrilled by people’s generosity.
She added: “I think that everyone, that I have met anyway, is in some way affected by cancer – whether it is them directly, a relative or a friend. Four of the mums running with us have lost their mums to cancer for instance.
“We just want to raise as much money as possible and try to make a difference for everyone who is affected by cancer by giving to this great cause.”
