A green plaque has been unveiled to mark St. Benedict's important role in the borough's history, as part of The Wandsworth Green Plaques Scheme.
Over the years St. Benedicts has been the site of the Tooting Military Hospital, St. Benedict's Hospital, St. Joseph's RC College and Tooting Home for The Aged and Infirm.
Councillors, residents and members of historical groups gathered on Wednesday, March 9 to attend the ceremony.
Paul McCue, published military and historian, presented the plaque and explained the site's historical background and its use as a military hospital in the First World War.
This plaque is the latest and tenth to go up, the first one unveiled in 2009.
Culture spokesman Councillor Jonathan Cook said: "Through our Green Plaque scheme we aim to encourage a sense of pride in the borough and an interest in its history, and remember the people and places that have helped make it what it is."
